Colegio de Santa Catalina de Alejandria (COSCA) has made a remarkable debut at the 22nd Word Cup and 7th Journalism Masterclass, held on August 23-25, 2024, at the Subic Bay Peninsular Hotel SBFZ.

Representing COSCA with great distinction, students Aira Llana Vez D. Aquiatan and Al Basil Z. Mission stood out among the competitors. The Word Cup, a highly regarded program across the Philippines and Asia, offers participants a hands-on experience in the field of journalism. For the first time, COSCA sent a team of 2 college journalists and 1 from Basic Education to this prestigious event, joining around 170 student participants nationwide who worked directly with professional journalists.

Al Basil clinched second place in the Photojournalism category, while Aira’s feature writing secured her the top spot in the college-level competition. Accompanied by Dr. Consolacion C. Unabia and Junior High School delegate Naiara Amber P. de Jesus, the COSCA team showcased exceptional skill and dedication. This achievement marks a historic milestone for 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴, COSCA’s school paper, and 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘙𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴, the school’s organization of campus journalists.

This impressive performance stresses COSCA’s commitment to fostering excellence in journalism and highlights the remarkable talent of its students.
